2010 Achievements

  • Worked with the City of FDL in authoring the Downtown Development Plan. The plan was adopted by Fond du Lac City Council on February 10, 2010.
  • In partnership with the Fond du Lac Arts Council, worked with a private consulting firm to develop, visualize and market three identified concept areas including the Gateway, River Walk and Arts & Entertainment Districts. Funding for this project was made possible by a $30,000 grant from the Fond du Lac Area Foundation.
  • Received a $21,600 from the Redevelopment Authority as part of the Community Block Grant Fund program to fund ongoing consulting and design services for the downtown vision plan.
  • Maintained a database of all “For Sale & For Lease” properties in the district. This list was made available to area realtors and business development agencies.
  • Assisted numerous businesses in locating properties & business preparedness.
  • Continuously worked on business retention and using community partners to assist with retention.

    • 2011 Goals

  • Continue to work with on redevelopment efforts of the downtown via the Downtown Fond du Lac Project Management Team. The PMT is a partnership between the DFP, Fond du Lac Arts Council, Fond du Lac Area Foundation, Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation, City of Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac County, whose mission is to advocate, plan, coordinate and monitor the implementation of the vision plan for Downtown Fond du Lac
  • Promote Downtown Fond du Lac for downtown business development.
  • Develop an active business recruitment program.
    * Identify corporations looking to expand into Wisconsin market, and actively recruit.
    * Visit other communities to recruit new businesses to downtown.
  • Keep a current listing of all property for sale and for lease in the district and make available to all local commercial realtors.
  • Promote the Retail Incentive Program, a grant program providing grants to new and expanding retail businesses.
  • Use marketing materials to solicit identified businesses and developers.
  • Expand market outreach to include printed advertisements and tradeshow presence.
