Downtown Development Plan
The Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership celebrated 2009 and announced plans for 2010 at its Annual Meeting at the Ramada Plaza Hotel on January 28, 2010.
Friend of Downtown, an annual award given to a person or organization that has had major impact on the partnership, was awarded to longtime DFP volunteer and officer Dave Schneider.
Dave served as Chairman of the Fall Festival for five years, and is instrumental in set up, clean up and teardown for Fondue Fest.
Dave is a current member of the DFP Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and also serves as Board Treasurer.
Design of the Year for 2009 was awarded to the Commonwealth Companies, for their renovation of St. Peter's Church and school. The adaptive reuse of the existing St. Peters School along with the housing addition is a prime example of urban infill.
Jon Bartz from Martenson & Eisele presented the Downtown Comprehensive Plan. The plan outlines the goals, objectives, policies, recommendations and implementation strategy for the downtown in the coming years.
The Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership is the administrative arm of the Business Improvement District, which encompasses Main Street from Follett Street on the north to Ninth Street on the south, and includes areas to the east and west. The mission of the partnership is to establish a diverse, prosperous and healthy district that is the social, commercial and cultural heart of our community.
